Changes coming to BCCLS
BCCLS will transition to a new automation system on December 12, 2012. This will affect holds, reserves, interlibrary loans, and item checkouts. Please read the rest of this post to learn about the coming changes and how they’ll affect you:
Monday, October 15
- You will not be able to place reserves (or holds) on items. This function will resume after the system is live on 12/12/12. After October 15, no new patrons can be added to a holds list for any title. Requests will continue to be honored only for those materials that are currently available within a BCCLS library. Check the online catalog to make sure the item you want is available. You can still request (but not reserve) available items in BCCLS libraries until November 20.
Tuesday, November 20
- This will be the last day to place loan requests for materials from any BCCLS library, including your own. You will still be able to visit any library in person that owns materials you wish to borrow. Requests will resume after we are on the new system.
Friday, November 30
- No new library cards will be issued until December 13, 2012.
You will no longer have access to your book bag. Unfortunately, the content of existing book bags cannot be brought over into the new system.
Monday, December 10
- Checkouts will be limited to two (2) items per patron for two days. Stock up on books, movies and DVDs beforehand!
Wednesday, December 12, 10 a.m. EST
- Polaris will go live across BCCLS libraries.

Glad to be able to find so many titles in my local library-and new books, too. Ebooks are cool but to have the paper in your hand to re-read @ any time—ahhh!
